The Nigerian Afrobeat singer was nominated alongside other world superstars in the category including Mr. Eazi but got the nod ahead of them as he came out top, winning the gong.
His mother and manager,Bose Ogulu collected the award on his behalf and gave an acceptance speech in which she delivered a message to every African seated in the hall.
She said; “Thank you very much BET, thank you, Africa. That is the constituency for which we got noticed. The message from Burna would be that every black person should please remember that you were Africans before you became anything else.”
Burna Boy now joins the list of other Nigerian superstars who have won the award. The likes of 2face, Davido, Wizkid etc.

Onyekuru is viewed by the hierarchy of the Bundesliga giants as the ideal replacement for 35 year old Franck Ribery who might retire from professional footballin few years time.
